BRIEF HISTORY OF THE CELL
From 2003-2004, under the leadership of Late Dr. Asoke Dutta, the then head of the Archaeology Department of the Calcutta University, a Buddhist monastery buried in the soil thousands of years was brought out in the excavation of the Archeology Department of the Calcutta University at the Mogalmari village in Dantan block of West Midnipur district of West Bengal. During the 2nd phase of excavation in 2007, our President Capt. N. Das got a conditional permission to visit the site from late Dr. Dutta. After that visit, AEG members visited many places in search of historic structures and their history since 2007.
In October 2021, the AEG decided to explore the lost Civilizations and its architecture of two particular parts of West Bengal. A proposal to raise a separate Heritage Cell came from the then Vice President (Administration), Dr (Ar) Kaushik Ghosh. Accordingly, the Heritage Cell raised on 2nd November 2021.
Member, Mrs. Sananda Sen speed up the work of the cell by giving many unknown information. On her leadership, the Cell began to work for the lost history and architecture that are not recorded in any history of West Bengal and India.
The members of the AEG Heritage Cell visited various places near Jangipara, Chanditala and Champadanga in Hooghly district of West Bengal to collect various information since 02 November 2021. The team found a number of dilapidated buildings having rich history. Some has a little documentation, some we had to collect from family documents to establish the history. A dilapidated building was reconstructed by 3D Modeling.
