GREEN FOOTPRINT
To empower the Municipalities in Green Building measures

Green Footprint proposed to organise a sequence of four to five capacity-building workshops involving groups of Municipalities as Principal target groups. Senior Engineers and Architects / Urban designers engaged in these Municipalities would be invited to attend presentation and case-studies made by acclaimed professionals, academician and bureaucrats and briefed about incentives and policies of the union government. The informed target-group would be expected to act as pressure groups and task-forced to mobilise the individual municipal bodies to undertake ground level policy amendments and encouraged to become active stakeholders in a state-wide movement towards energy and resource sustainability. Successful implementation of the programme is targeted at achieving pioneer position for West Bengal not only at national level but internationally as well.
The Architects & Engineers Guild (India) [AEG] proposed to set up a Sustainability Cell with multiple targets of capacity-building, information dissemination repository of knowledge and data in sustainable developments in urban, pre-urban and rural areas of West Bengal. This may further lead up to direct and positive action through pilot projects and research. The AEG has Ten GRIHA certified Green Building Consultants out of Thirty-four in eastern India. The state currently has nine GRIHA certified Evaluator out of which five are AEG members. Such green professionals will spearhead the Sustainability Cell.
